The Manufacturing Industry

According to data from the Portuguese Institute of Statistics, the cork manufacturing industry is distributed between twelve districts, but only the districts of Aveiro (Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira) and Setúbal are significant, being responsible for around 58% and 28% of employment in this industry, respectively. The cork industry has almost 900 factories and 12500 workers.
